This release marks the first in a new series of SketchUp learning content, developed in partnership with Trimble and designed to guide learners from foundational knowledge to advanced 3D modeling skills.
Global eTraining and Trimble have collaborated to build a comprehensive library of introductory SketchUp courses, with advanced content scheduled for future release. This ensures that learners across AECO, manufacturing and other industries gain the modern, practical skills needed to produce fast, flexible and accurate 3D models.
Created by GeT Subject Matter Expert Mike Thomas, Introduction to Trimble SketchUp teaches the fundamentals of navigating and creating within SketchUp’s intuitive 3D modeling environment. Learners will explore the interface, trays and essential tools while developing key navigation skills such as zooming, panning and orbiting. The course also introduces Trimble Connect, camera controls, scale figures and measurement tools, supporting precise positioning, evaluation and collaboration within the platform.
Course author Mike Thomas brings extensive real-world expertise to this training. With a strong background in the mining industry and skills spanning AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD, product lifecycle management, technical training and support, Mike has been a trusted CAD and data management professional throughout his career.
He has used AutoCAD since Release 13, began solid modeling with Mechanical Desktop, and worked with Inventor before it was even officially named. Data management—particularly with Autodesk Vault—has remained central to his work and teaching.
