Frequently Asked Questions

Who must take this training?

Scaffolds are a necessary feature in most construction work. Unfortunately, every year there are injuries and fatalities from the use of scaffolding. For this reason, safety training for each person working on or around scaffolding is critical to a safe worksite.

How often is retraining or recertification required?

It is a good practice to re-train employees in any of the following circumstances:

The employer has reason to believe a worker lacks the skill or knowledge to safely use, erect, or dismantle a scaffold

  • Changes in the worksite that create new hazards
  • Changes in the types of scaffolds or fall protection used

Another good practice is for employers to re-train their employees on a recurring basis, documented in their safety program.

What are the governing regulations?

This online Scaffolding Safety training and certification course follows the regulations set forth in the OHS Safety Standards for Scaffolding, as well as Province and Territory specific regulations.
