Who must take this training?

Anyone who has occupational exposure to benzene, either one time or on an ongoing basis, should understand the hazards of exposure to benzene and be familiar with safe work practices that minimize that exposure. Persons who may be frequently exposed to benzene include steelworkers, refinery workers, tire manufacturing workers, printers, shoemakers, lab technicians, gas station employees, and firefighters.

How often is retraining or recertification required?

The employer shall provide employees with information and training at the time of their initial assignment to a work area where benzene is present. If exposures are above the action level, employees shall be provided with information and training at least annually thereafter.

What are the governing regulations?

This online course satisfies the training requirements for the Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR, Section 5218 Benzene Safety Standard.
