On March 24, a major shift is happening across the AECO industry, and if you’re an Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) user, it’s important to understand exactly what this means for you.
At Global eTraining, we’ve been closely following this evolution. This blog will walk through the key updates and what they mean for your day-to-day work.
For a more in-depth and comprehensive look at this transition, we have also released a new mini-course in the GeT Everything library: ACC to Autodesk Forma: The Why Behind the Change, now also integrated into our existing ACC content.
This course is designed to guide you through what’s changing, what’s not and how it affects you, using the same foundational information behind this shift. If you are looking to get up to speed quickly and gain a complete understanding of what this means for your workflows, you can or start a free trial to begin.
As with all Global eTraining content, this course is fully customizable using our patented rapid course-building solution, allowing you to align training with your company and project workflows. From there, organizations can host, edit and continuously update courses with auto-sync capabilities across one or multiple Learning Management Systems.
In this article, we will provide a high-level overview of these changes and what is included in the newly released mini-course.
Bringing Design and Construction Together
As of March 24, Autodesk Construction Cloud will become part of Autodesk Forma. This marks a significant step toward a more connected, future-ready industry cloud, one that brings design and construction together into a single, unified platform.
This change is about more than just branding. It represents Autodesk’s broader vision of connecting stakeholders, workflows and data into a single, insight-driven environment. Forma is Autodesk’s AI-native industry cloud, designed to support better decision-making across planning, design, construction and operations.
From our perspective at Global eTraining, this is a strategic move toward a more integrated and intelligent AECO ecosystem.
What’s Changing
While your day-to-day experience remains familiar, you will notice several updates tied to the Forma transition:
- Autodesk Construction Cloud is being rebranded under the Autodesk Forma umbrella
- The logo in the product UI will change to Autodesk Forma
- Autodesk Docs will now appear as Forma Data Management
- Navigation will expand to surface additional Forma solutions
- The ACC Mobile App will be renamed to Forma
- Account Admin will be renamed to Hub Admin
In addition, several product names are being updated to reflect their place within the Forma industry cloud
- Autodesk Docs → Forma Data Management
- Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro → Forma Design Collaboration
- Autodesk Build → Forma Build
- Autodesk Takeoff → Forma Takeoff
- Autodesk Estimate → Forma Estimate
- Preconstruction Bundle → Forma for Preconstruction
- Model Management Bundle → Forma for Model Management
- Construction Operations Bundle → Forma for Construction Operations
These updates will be reflected across Autodesk platforms, including websites, contracts, licensing and Autodesk Account.
What’s Not Changing
Just as important as what is changing is what is not.
Autodesk has made it clear that this transition is designed to be seamless:
- Your current workflows will not change
- There is no data migration—projects, members, settings, and files remain exactly as they are
- URLs, logins, APIs, and integrations remain unchanged
- Licensing and user provisioning stay the same
- Existing automations and workflows continue without disruption
- The user interface will remain familiar, with only light branding updates
In short, you can continue working exactly as you do today, without interruption.
Is Forma Replacing ACC?
No. Forma is not replacing Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Instead, Autodesk is expanding the Forma industry cloud by incorporating ACC’s powerful capabilities into it. ACC’s enterprise controls, infrastructure and user management will now extend across the broader Forma environment.
This creates a single, connected industry cloud for AECO, something we see as a major step forward in reducing fragmentation across the project lifecycle.
What This Means for You
From a practical standpoint, this transition is low-risk and high-upside.
There’s no disruption to your current work, but there is a clear path toward more connected data, improved collaboration and future AI-driven workflows.
By establishing a common data environment across planning, design, construction, and operations, Forma enables better data flow and more informed decision-making at every stage of a project.
At Global eTraining, we see this as the foundation for where the industry is heading—not just a rebrand, but a long-term shift toward smarter, more integrated project delivery.
Why Docs Is Becoming Data Management
One of the most notable changes is Autodesk Docs being rebranded as Forma Data Management.
This reflects its role as a foundational common data environment (CDE) within Forma—supporting unified, traceable data across the entire asset lifecycle. It’s not just about files anymore; it’s about structured, connected data that powers better outcomes.
